The Bastion of Faith

Guardian of the fertile Jaw Plains, Jawguard gleams in the sunlight with its marble walls and shining temples. The city is both a fortress and a cathedral—its strength born of faith and duty, as much as arms. Founded in the wake of devastation, it is the holy stronghold of Torm, god of duty, housing the Golden Lions.

🛡️ A Fortress of Faith

Constructed in 332 AC, during the Age of Hope, Jawguard was raised with purpose. Its walls and towering keep were designed to guard the Three Castles Confederation against forces from Cyrest and Gundarakk. Paladins, clerics, and officials dwell behind the inner walls, while a larger town spreads beyond its gates—orderly, industrious, and sustained by the fertile Jaw Plains.

Jawguard is not the largest city of the Confederation, but it is its moral anchor where the principles of justice and sacrifice are taught, tested, and enforced.

🌾 The Living Rhythm Beyond the Walls

Each day in the valley is punctuated by the deep, resonant tolling of the temple bells—a sound that carries from the marble heights out into the fertile Jaw Plains. This chime serves as a rhythmic bridge between the high altars of Torm and the stretching fields, reminding every citizen that whether they hold a sword or a plow, their labor is a sacred service.

Beyond the fortress lies a bustling town of artisans, farmers, and herders. Of the 3,000 residents, roughly 500 elite paladins and officials dwell within the citadel, while the remaining 2,500 civilians work the plains to feed the stronghold and supply the nearby trade routes of Portjaw and Reikerpass.

Agriculture, herding, and pilgrimage services form the backbone of the local economy. Fields stretch across the plains, worked with the understanding that nourishment is as vital to defense as steel.

✨ Pilgrims and the Path of Torm

Jawguard is a place of pilgrimage. Temples and shrines to Torm draw the faithful from across Shadowstar, seeking guidance, judgment, or renewal of vows. These travelers bring quiet vitality to the city—coin, stories, and the shared belief that duty binds disparate people together.

At the heart of this movement stands Pilgrim’s Rest Coach House, a disciplined yet welcoming inn where soldiers, pilgrims, and families share warm meals beneath the watchful eye of Torm’s doctrine. It is a place of rest, not excess, where conduct matters as much as comfort.

🦁 The Golden Lions

A noble paladin of the Golden Lions mounted on a white warhorse, both adorned with golden lion insignias, ready for battle beneath a dawn-lit sky.

Jawguard is the headquarters of the Golden Lions, the paladin order sworn to Torm and charged with defending the Confederation against external and internal threats. Known as the Paladins of Duty, they serve as both warriors and judges, their presence a constant reminder that power without principle is hollow.

From Jawguard, the Golden Lions stand vigilant against dangers from Cyrest and the growing shadow of the Dark Lancers.

Here, watchfulness is not paranoia—it is responsibility.

⚖️ Role in Shadowstar

Jawguard serves as the shield of the Three Castles Confederation and its spiritual heart. It anchors the alliance alongside Hatchet and Reikerpass, ensuring that faith, law, and cooperation endure even as new storms gather beyond the horizon.

It is a city built not to dominate, but to hold the line.

🌄 The Spirit of Jawguard

In Jawguard’s temples, fields, and walls lives a quiet certainty: that Shadowstar survives not through ambition alone, but through those willing to stand firm when hope demands discipline. Where others may falter, Jawguard remains—steadfast, faithful, and unyielding.
